Another day, another big race winner for trainer Aidan O'Brien and jockey Ryan Moore, after Kyprios became only the third horse to regain the Ascot Gold Cup this afternoon.
The 11/10 favourite, who has made a triumphant return from a career-threatening injury, beat Trawlerman in a closely-fought finish, with Sweet William back in third place.
It was the ninth time that O'Brien, who trains at his Tipperary base in Ballydoyle, Rosegreen, had won the Ascot Gold Cup, one of the big races of the week at Royal Ascot.
"I said to Aidan that he's the class horse in the race and he stays the best, so I've just got to get it right," jockey Ryan Moore told ITV Racing.
"I didn't get it quite right but he still won.
"He's an unbelievable horse. Aidan knows exactly what they need to do, he knows how to get them here better than anyone"
Meanwhile, part-owner Michael Tabor described Aidan O'Brien as "a genius".
O'Brien and Moore had earlier teamed up to win the Group 2 Ribblesdales Stakes with 12/1 shot Port Fairy.
