Willie O'Donoghe flew the Irish flag with pride in Slovenia event.
Willie O’Donoghue flew the flag for the Mooreabbey Milers and for Ireland on the international stage in Slovenia at the World Mountain Masters over 55s race.
The race was an uphill route of 7.8km in blistering heat of over 30 degrees.
Willie ran excellently up the rocky technical trail to finish in 30th position in a time of 1hr 1min. Well done Willie..inspiring stuff!
Meanwhile still on the mountains but nearer to home, three Milers made the trip to Kerry on Saturday to tackle the highest mountain in Ireland in one of the Irish mountain championship races up and down Carrauntohill.
The Milers trio on Carrauntohill.
Conditions were perfect although the mist at the top made navigating the course tricky.
As ever Tom Blackburn was first home for the club followed by Kevin Lenihan and Rob Cunningham. Congratulation to Rob on his 100th MMRA mountain race.
