The 2018 Munster Under 18 Interprovincial team to play in Slieve Russell, County Cavan, on 24/26 July at the Interprovincial Team Championships has been announced.

From a local perspective Ian Halpin from Cahir Park will be a playing member, while long-serving  Munster  Council official, John Fennessy from Clonmel Golf Club, will manage the team for the competition.

Munster Junior (U18) Golfer of the Year Jack Hearn pictured with John Fennessy and Kevin Murray from Munster Golf. Clonmel Golf Club's John Fennessy will manage this year's Munster team in the Under 18 Interpros to be played in Ulster.

Three of the boys, including Ian Halpin,  were on the Munster team that won the  u-16 title in Tullamore in 2016 under the management of John Fennessy and Kevin Murray.  So the southern province will travel up with good hopes and if they can hit they top game and get a bit of luck along the way they will be hoping to come out on top again this time around.

Team: Aaron Cashin (Tramore), Ian Halpin (Cahir Park), Jonathan Keane (Lahinch), Scott O’Brien (Nenagh), Jake O’Riordan (Dungarvan), Daniel Raher (Dungarvan), Edward Walsh (Mallow).

Team  Captain - Kevin Murray.

Team Manager - John Fennessy (Clonmel Golf Club)

Provincial Coach - Fred Twomey.

PS: An interesting local connection with the Leinster Under 16 team for the interprovincials is Jamie Butler (Naas). Jamie is son of John Butler, Lisronagh, Clonmel. The Leinster team are favourites to capture the title this year.
