Munster champion Killian Whelan from Clonmel AC.

The Munster juvenile B Track and Field Championship took place in CIT (same venue as Cork City Sports) on Saturday 21st July and Clonmel AC  was represented by two athletes.

The conditions were far from ideal with a strong headwind at the stadium end and temperatures of 27 degrees.

First up was Killian Whelan in the boys U12 Long Jump and Killian with a best jump of 3.95m took the Gold medal and the Munster Title for Clonmel.

Next up was Sarah Whelan in the girls u9 Long jump and Sarah jumped very well to finish in 6th place with a jump of 2.81.

The final event for Clonmel was the boys u12 80m sprint and here Killian came through the heats to make the final and although running a PB of 11.13 and getting the same time as the 3rd place athlete was just outside the medals in 4th position.

The curtain came down on a very successful season at Juvenile level with the All Ireland Juvenile Track and Field Championships.

Clonmel had two athletes competing. Both Siobhan Whelan in the girls u17 1500m and Colm McCarthy in the boys u19 1500m ran exceptionally well to post times of 5.10 and 4.28 respectively. Both amazing times considering the very warm conditions.

As this was the concluding event of the Track and Field season, Clonmel AC would like to thank all its juveniles that participated throughout the season they wore the Clonmel colours with pride and distinction.

It has been a great season with success at all levels. Training resumes for the Cross-County season in September.
