'Please don't give him back'- Concern raised in Tipperary as gardaí find lost dog

'No dog should have a rope around its neck absolutely heartbreaking.....'

Tipperary locals have raised concern around a lost dog found who had a blue rope tied around his neck.

Gardaí said: "This fella, who has been in the Littleton area for the last few days, is on his way to Thurles Garda Station where he can be collected by his owner. (We will have a chat about how to secure a dog properly)".

The post on Facebook has received over 100 comments from people in Tipperary asking gardaí to not give the dog back to it's owner.

One person said: "Are you sure you want to return this poor soul to a seemingly totally irresponsible owner? He doesn’t look like he’s been treated well. Probably will suffer such abuse in the future as well. You’d do better finding him a loving home."

"His poor dog should under no circumstances be returned to the owner, who is almost certainly an animal abuser! Or do you think the dog tied the rope around his neck himself ? Poor baby," another person said.

Another local commented: "A chat about securing a dog properly?? Perhaps a chat about responsibility dog ownership and care for the dog! He is not being looked after. No decent dog owner would have their dog tied with a rope like that."
