Founder of the Bypass For Thurles campaign group, Dan Harty has said: “This development is fantastic news for the people of Thurles and surrounding areas”.
“There was great optimism locally when this project was originally included in the plan in 2011 and a proposed route was published. The optimism waned in the following years when the project was subsequently dropped.”
Mr Harty continued, “Now is the time for renewed optimism, with the inclusion of an ambitious plan hotly anticipated in the revised NDP when it is published in a fortnight. I wholeheartedly welcome this news and am very proud to have played a role in ensuring that this project was kept to the very fore as a political issue in the locality.”

“Having formed the Bypass For Thurles campaign group and by submitting a detailed submission as part of the review, I am very satisfied with having reached the first aim of the campaign”.
Mr Harty concluded: “I now want to now recommit to this campaign to ensure that this vital piece of infrastructure progresses through the various stages and is finally delivered for the people of Thurles and surrounding areas”.
