A number of houses on the Cashel Road in Tipperary Town are experiencing severe problems with sewage backing up in their homes and flooding their backyards.
One resident explained how his bathroom and shower are out of commission due to sewage coming up in his shower drain and his backyard is completely flooded with sewage.
Viewing the area is not for the faint hearted as there is raw sewage in the yard along with dead vermin.
Residents have reported the matter to the council and to Uisce Éireann but there has been no resolution to the problem with residents very frustrated and worried about possible illnesses as a result.

Sewage contains harmful microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses and protozoa.
Direct contact with sewage or surfaces contaminated by sewage can result in illnesses such as gastroenteritis.
Residents say that the problem with the sewage is going on for two years, but for some residents it has escalated in recent weeks and has resulted in back yards flooded with sewage, and bathrooms unusable.

One resident said that he has been contacting Irish Water about the problem for the last couple of years but feels that he is being 'fobbed off' all the time.
Another resident said that Uisce Éireann provide water and wastewater services to customers through the public water and sewerage schemes and yet they can not get them to deal properly with what is obviously a very serious matter of concern to residents.

"They have cleared the blockage in the pipes previously but its obvious that it needs further remedial work to prevent this from reoccurring on a regular basis.
"Uisce Éireann are responsible for the development, maintenance and operation of water and wastewater plants and the associated pipe networks, and they must deal with this urgently," says another resident.
