A fire was reported in the Glen of Aherlow
A fire in the woods of a popular Tipperary beauty was finally brought under control late last evening (Thursday, April 10).
There had been reports of fire and smoke coming from the woods in the popular Glen of Aherlow in West Tipperary, between the Millennium Stone and Ballagh.
People had been asked to stay away from the area as fire crews worked to bring the blaze under control.

The fire was eventually brought under control at around 9.30pm on Thursday evening.
It is still unknown what the cause of the fire was, but with Tipperary basking in unseasonably warm conditions over the last two weeks, land has been dryer than usual.

Local independent councillor Annemarie Ryan paid tribute to the fire crews who brought the blaze under control.
"Thanks to the hardworking Firefighters and those who helped them," she wrote on social media.
