The fundraiser for the Irish Kidney Association will take place in Emly on Easter Sunday
A fundraising coffee morning will take place in a West Tipperary village on Easter Sunday.
The fundraiser will take place in the village of Emly on Easter Sunday to raise funds for the Irish Kidney Association (IKA) and the work they do.
The event is organised by Mary McGrath whose husband John was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease called Goodpasture Syndrome in March 2023.
Both of John's kidneys have now failed, and he undergoes regular dialysis while waiting for a kidney transplant.
He first started dialysis in Cork University Hospital in 2023 and since then in late 2024, both John and Mary have been trained to do dialysis at home.

Since being trained to do dialysis at home, John and Mary will continue to do so for the next number of years as he awaits his transplant.
"The Irish Kidney association have been so helpful to both John and myself over the past 2 years and we will need their help going forward," Mary said on her fundraising page.
Mary, John and their family will host the coffee morning on Easter Sunday at 12 noon in Byrnes Tavern in Emly.
The family say that "all donations are greatly apricated, both big and small."

The McGrath family have so far raised just under €2,100 out of their €3,000 fundraising target, and hope to raise even more from the coffee morning.
