The Tour de Munster charity cycle began today, passing through the Tipperary of Clogheen on their journey to Limerick.

The Tour de Munster charity cycle began today on Thursday August 7 in Cork before soon passing through towns in Tipperary.

The route began in Cork City this morning, then went onto Middleton, Tallow, Lismore, The Vee, Clogheen, Cahir, Bansha, Tipperary Town, Oola and then finishing in Limerick.

The first day of four saw participants stop along the way, with locals volunteering to help out in the villages listed above.

Local notes correspondent PJ English of Clogheen has sent in photos of those involved in helping out in Clogheen during the charity cycle today.

The event will end on Sunday August 10. 

The charity cycle fundraises to support the six branches of Down Syndrome Ireland that are located in Munster.
