Pressure is put on county council to deliver more social housing schemes in Tipperary Town

Tipperary County Council has been bluntly told there isn’t enough social housing being built in Tipp Town where over 230 applicants are waiting for a council home.

This was the message Sinn Féin Cllr Annemarie Ryan gave to the Council’s Housing Section Director Jonathan Cooney at the council’s monthly meeting.

She told the meeting there are currently two social housing scheme being built in Tipperary and she was aware the not-for-profit housing body Clúid was developing 16 housing units.

With 231 applicants from Tipperary Town on the social housing list, two council housing projects was “totally inadequate” and she called on the council to consider building more schemes in the town.
