Great Win - Congratulations are in order for St. Fergul’s College, Rathdowney who won the All-Ireland glory on April 6th when they defeated St. Brigid’s, Loughrea in the All-Ireland Vocational Schools Senior ‘A’ hurling final at Semple Stadium. At half time it did not look good for St. Ferguls but in the second half, they came out in top form and had a wonderful win. There was great excitement for St. Ferguls hurlers, it was a joyful day for Rathdowney and we all say “Well Done”.
Thanks - The Community Centre committee says a very sincere thank you to all those who helped the Pantomime to be such a success. Your support and dedication is very greatly appreciated, the committee needed your help and you all turned up trumps. The two entrepreneurs Michael Creagh and Niall O’Doherty did a trojan job as always and we all give a big hand to both of them without whom we would have no show. It was so wonderful to make so many people happy, and give such an interest to children and parents. Go mbeirimid beo ag an aim so aris.

Knitting Club - This is a wonderful club, now in its second year. We are inviting all the ladies to come along and see what we do, every Monday from 2 to 4.30pm in the Communal Centre, Cuan Bhride. In a very warm and friendly centre where you will enjoy knitting, craic and chat in a one big family get together. The club is here to exchange tips from beginners to experienced knitters. All share their skills and are really helpful. You can knit garments for yourself and your family and will learn of the wool available. Some members have donated knitwear i.e. hats scarves, baby hats and matinee jackets to Portlaoise Maternity Hospital, Kilkenny Maternity Hospitals, Temple Street, Rotunda and the Coombe and also knitted vests for the children in Africa. Excellent work to be involved in and an ideal place to make friends.
