Donaghmore Workhouse hosted a 'Super-Support' concert in aid of the business, hoping to raise funds towards the supermarket's restoration. This fundraiser was organised by Rathdowney actor and playwright, Micheal Creagh.

"I think we all got a shock when we saw the devastating fire at SuperValu in Roscrea," Mr Creagh said.

"Of course we're all relieved that there were no injuries or worse. But now a lot of good people have to pick up the pieces of their lives and livelihoods. The people of Roscrea have given us musicians here in Rathdowney many years of love and support by coming out to hear us sing and play," he said.

"A bunch of us over here across the border in lovely Laois have just today put our 'auld heads together and agreed that we want to give back some of that love and support," Mr Creagh explained.

On Saturday, November 29, people gathered in Donaghmore Workhouse Dining Hall and put on a fundraising concert.

The concert took place at 8pm, following on from the turning on of Rathdowney's Christmas Lights at the brewery bridge in the bordering town.

Mr Creagh highlighted that 100% of funds raised will go directly towards the Tipperary business.
