Explore Carrick-on-Suir will officially launch its new Schools Entrepreneurial Programme for Carrick-on-Suir's three secondary school at a seminar it is hosting in Comeragh College next Monday, October 7.
Details of the new programme with a five-year annual €5,000 enterprise bursary will be announced at The Journey of an Idea seminar for secondary school students from Comeragh College, Scoil Mhuire Secondary School and Edmund Rice Secondary School that takes place from 10am to 1pm on Monday.
Explore Carrick-on-Suir is a new tourism and community initiative set up to promote Carrick-on-Suir and its hinterland as a desirable place to visit, live, study and work.
The Journey of an Idea seminar is Explore Carrick-on-Suir's first ever student seminar. It's being hosted by the initiative in partnership with LEO Tipperary's Student Enterprise Programme. The seminar will focus on helping students to come up with ideas for enterprises and how to transform those ideas into a thriving business or initiative.
The Schools Entrepreneurial Programme that will be launched at the seminar boasts an annual €5,000 Enterprise Bursary from 2024 to 2029.
For the bursary programme, students from Carrick's three secondary school will be invited to pitch innovative concepts to enhance tourism, town vibrancy and attract visitors.
"The enterprises from each school that best align with the goals of Explore Carrick-on-Suir will be awarded the bursary to develop their business idea," said Sarah Jane Cleary, Commerical & Tourism Manager for Carrick-on-Suir at Explore Carrick-on-Suir.
