The funeral of the 32-year-old man who drowned tragically in the River Suir near Carrick-on-Suir earlier this week, will take place in his native Clonea-Power village in county Waterford on Sunday and Monday.
The late Daniel (Danny) Kavanagh from 18 New Houses, Clonea-Power, Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Waterford died after getting into difficulty in the river where he had been fishing with others. The tragedy happened in the River Suir at Tinhalla, county Waterford near Carrick-on-Suir town around 8.30pm on Tuesday, July 1.
His body was found early on Wednesday morning, July 2 by Carrick-on-Suir River Rescue volunteers, who were involved in the search for him with members of An Garda Síochána, Fire Service personnel and the Coastguard Helicopter 117 based in Waterford.

Mr Kavanagh's remains will repose at his home on Sunday, July 6 from 5pm until 7pm and his Requiem Mass will be celebrated at the Church of Saints Coan & Brogán in Clonea-Power on Monday, July 7 at 11am. Burial will take place after the ceremony in the adjoining cemetery.
He is predeceased by his mother Sandra and nephew Billy and survived by his father Liam, partner Kathlynn, children Danny, Aoibhe, step-children Alfie, Layla and Lacey, brother Tommy, sisters Leanne, Denise, Franky, Rachel and Hazel, brothers-in-law Stephen, Matthew and David, aunts, uncles, godmother and godfather, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
Mr Kavanagh's family are requesting anyone attending his funeral to wear something blue as a mark of respect.
His tragic death has been greeted with deep shock and sadness in Carrick-on-Suir and his native Clonea-Power.
Cathaoirleach of Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District Cllr David Dunne described Danny Kavanagh's death as a terrible tragedy and extended condolences to his grieving family on behalf of himself, his fellow councillors and the people of Carrick-on-Suir.
“My heart goes out to his family. I am sure the community in Carrick-on-Suir, as they have always done, will rally around them in their hour of need,” he said.
