Loughtagalla Community Park
The management report received by councillors at this month’s meeting of the full Tipperary county council revealed that funding totalling roughly €340,000 would be given to five local projects in Tipperary through the LEADER programme.
The LEADER programme is an initiative that is delivered through the partnership of Tipperary LCDC, Tipperary County Council, North Tipperary Development Company (NTDC) and South Tipperary Development Company (STDC).
The budget for 2023-2027 for Tipperary is €5.85 million and is allocated across three key themes; Economic Development & Job Creation, Rural Infrastructure & Social Inclusion and Sustainable Development of Rural Environment & Climate Change.

The management report informed councillors that at the April LAG (LCDC) meeting, five projects were approved for Leader funding:
Bournea Parish Development Association is receiving €108,203 for an extension to the existing community facility in a rural area to provide additional multi-purpose spaces for events, training programmes and services.
Loughtagalla Park and Residents Association was awarded €114,865 for phase 2 of the redevelopment of Loughtagalla Biodiversity Park, specifically the construction of a 16-space car park including two accessible parking spaces.
Castleiney Development Association CLG is receiving €44,598 for Castleiney Ball Alley Rejuvenation Works, the works include resurfacing of the floor, construction of a concrete stub-wall to the rear, installation of a glass wall to the rear and reinstatement of the netting to the existing structure.
Cloughjordan Football Club is receiving two separate grants, the first is €58,557 for a new LED lighting system to be installed along the community walking track to enhance safety and usability, particularly during early mornings and evenings. The installation will involve the laying of ducting, construction of bases and mounting of LED lighting fixtures.
The second is €10,987 for the installation of solar panels on the dressing room roof by a qualified renewable energy contractor. The generated energy will power the entire community track, entrance way and carpark, creating long-term operational savings.
