Neighbours of Tipperary Town pensioner who died after he  was assaulted gather for prayer

Neighbours and friends of the late  Teddy Murnane gathered outside his home in Tipperary Town on Tuesday evening to remember him in prayer.

81-year-old Teddy died after he was assaulted outside his home at St Michael's Avenue, Tipperary Town last Friday night.

Teddy was a well-known bus driver and had the privilege of driving Tipperary hurling teams to Croke Park and venues all around the country.

Now retired, Teddy was described as a lovely neighbour by family friend Stevie O'Donnell.

"He was a very quiet man, never put in or out with anybody. People are in real shock after what happened. He was a lovely, lovely neighbour," said Stevie O'Donnell.

He is survived by his wife Margaret, daughter Rachel, sons Patrick and Timothy. His remains will repose at Whelan's funeral Home in Bansha on Thursday between 5.30 and 7.30pm. The funeral Mass will take place at St Michael's Church, Tipperary town on Friday at 12 noon with burial afterwards in St Michael's Cemetery.
